K.Y. Network

Yumiko Kawashima, who is a founder of K.Y. Network Co., Ltd., came to Hong Kong to work for Cathay Pacific Airways as a Cabin Attendant in the late 70's. She left her job on 1985 as a position of senior purser who is in charge of first class and business class. Through her experiences traveling around the world. She got to explore high quality items in Europe like England, France and Germany. This made her want to form her current company. 

 

After many different job experiences, she finally worked for Hong Kong Seibu department as a division manager. While working for them she came across Wedgwood and Christofle hotelware fortunately. For over two centuries Wedgwood has graced the tables of the world’s finest hotels and restaurants. Christofle was founded in 1830 by Charles Christofle, the motto is “There is only one quality, the best” and renowned for its elegant stying and the legendary quality of its products, suppling to numerous luxury hotels and resturants. Although hotelware are great products and reasonable in price but most hotelwares are not available in store. They are mainly sold to hotels and resturants directly. This existing hotelware wholesale situation made her want to sell this unique hotelware on domestic retail market which no one does in Hong Kong. 

 

In 1997, when Hong Kong was handed back to China, she started the company K.Y.Network Co., Ltd. K.Y. is initial of Kawashima Yumiko, and Network is not computer network, it is human network which she aimed to connect serve people. She started from a small office in Tsim Sai Tsui, focusing Wedgwood and Christofle hotelware. Out of Wedgwood hotel collection, she chose simple white bone china “White Connaught” and “Nantucket” which matches any Asian dishes. In comparison with Christofle flatware, hotelware is much reasonable and affordable price.

By mouth to mouth advertisment which was stated “Hotelware is unique, simple, elegant yet strong, last long time and reasonable price." and then company expanded quickly and moved to a bigger office in TST.

 

Through many years she also collected different range of new products like hand-painted on bone china tableware and gifts by Asianera with fine reputation for for producing beautiful quality. They are so elegant and accepted by many customers as for gifts.

 

“My collection in my shop are based on what I myself want to use at home or love to give away as gifts.” Moreover “I only can sell what I think it is great.” She has the biggest collection of Wedgwood hotelware and Christofle hotelware at home to use everyday.
